Back in 1991, a group of professionals and teachers from Córdoba, Argentina, specialized in universities of Europe, USA and Canada, supported the establishment of different work teams and developed research programs on new reproductive technologies.
Framed by a joint-venture for the first time in Argentina with Canadian farmers, field work started in 1992; its aim was to conform the first genetic core.
First embryos were obtained in Canada from carefully selected animals, in order to get features such as fertility, calving ease, maternal ability, growth rate, and moderate adult size. Produced animals underwent strict selection, in order to conform the first core, which was later multiplied through artificial insemination and embryo transfer.
